Responsibilities
• Lead the electrical design process for large-scale data center projects from concept design through to construction administration.
• Design and engineer resilient power distribution systems, including MV/LV switchgear, UPS, generators, and related ancillary systems.
• Prepare and review detailed design documentation, including single-line diagrams, load schedules, cable calculations, and equipment specifications.
• Ensure all designs are compliant with relevant international and local standards, such as Uptime Institute Tiers, TIA-942, and IEC/BS standards.
• Collaborate effectively with architects, clients, and other engineering disciplines to produce fully coordinated and integrated project designs.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their professional development.
• Utilize electrical design software (e.g., ETAP, Amtech, Dialux) and BIM tools (Revit) to deliver high-quality designs.
• Participate in design reviews, workshops, and client meetings, effectively communicating technical concepts and solutions.
• Contribute to the team’s culture of innovation by staying current with emerging technologies in data center power and controls.
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus on data center design.
• Demonstrable experience working on the design of mission-critical facilities.
• Possession of relevant data center certifications (e.g., CDCDP®, DCDC®, ATD) is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in electrical design software and BIM (Revit) is a strong advantage.
• In-depth knowledge of data center electrical infrastructure, including UPS configurations, generator paralleling, and power quality.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
