Sedgman is currently seeking a Senior Industrial Process Plant Automation Engineer to work out of our Vancouver, BC office location.
The Senior Industrial Process Plant Automation Engineer is responsible for optimizing industrial processes to enhance efficiency and productivity. This role involves extensive mathematical skills for calculating output, analytical and critical thinking skills for optimizing production processes and the ability to work in various sectors such as the mining, chemical & biochemical industries.

What does this role involve? Main Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the design of process control and communication systems with a focus on PF studies, conceptual design, and detailed design for mines.
• Be the Engineer of Record (EoR) of the projects and collaborate with designers, subconsultants, contractors, project services teams, and the clients.
• Lead the Basic and Detail designs of instrument, process control, and communication systems.
• Prepare construction methodology, process control functional description, automation architecture, and be accountable for engineering deliverables.
• Produce project design criteria, specifications and Datasheet, RFP SoW documents; Complete technical bid reviews, and recommend vendors.
• Manage, review, and approve vendor drawings, DCS and PLC programming; attend FAT’s, and SAT’s.
• Participate in design, operability, constructability, and HAZAN and HAZOP reviews.
• Conduct peer engineer review.
• Provide material and engineering cost estimates to support marketing and proposal submissions.
• Some travel may be required (to attend Factory Acceptance Tests and perform on-site commissioning).
What are we looking for in our future team member?? Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Engineering, Electrical or Automation disciplines preferably.
• Minimum of fifteen years' relevant experience using PLC programming and SCADA software including on-site commissioning, and project management experience.
• You must have experience with the following :
• Rockwell Automation PLC products including FactoryTalk View SE.
• Industrial Ethernet networks.
• PID loop controllers.
• Mentoring and managing the workload of a team.
• Be highly competent with written English.
• Have a high level of technical writing ability, problem solving and analytical skills;
• Ability to prioritise and control workload arising from a broad user base.
• The following skills would be looked upon favourably but are not required, specifically experience with:
• Rockwell Automation’s PlantPAx DCS solution; Rockwell Automation’s Application Code Manager (ACM); Schneider Electric products including PLCs and SCADA solutions; and DCS solutions such as Delta V.
• SQL database design with SQL query construction and Python programming experience.
• High level of competence with Microsoft Word.

Salary Range: $165 K - $180 K
The salary offered to the successful person for this position will consider education, experience, relevant skills and capability, geographic location and market conditions at the time of hire.
