Senior Communication Systems Engineer
Join an innovative Space organization in the LA area as a Senior Communication Systems Engineer, where you will contribute to the development of advanced Communication Systems for Satellites, Spacecraft, and Aerospace applications.
In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the creation of space architecture concepts, sub-system design, payload design, requirements analysis, high-level software and hardware system architecture, concept of operations (CONOPS) development, and risk assessment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assess customer and operational needs to formulate requirements, integrate technical parameters, and ensure compatibility across all interfaces.
• Assist in the evaluation of requests for proposals to aid in solution development and responses.
• Lead trade studies for optimizing system architecture.
• Define and validate space system requirements and interconnections.
• Guide technical concept development in support of proposal initiatives.
• Oversee the design of subsystems, payloads, requirements analysis, hardware design, link budget studies, gain line ups, cascade analysis, array simulations, and CONOPS development while reducing risks.
• Engage in developing system engineering processes for effective requirements management, flow down, and traceability.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
• 7 - 9 years of experience in Space communications is preferred.
• Strong foundation in communication theory is essential.
• Thorough understanding of RF concepts, impairments, and their impacts.
• Hands-on experience with FPGA and modern vector processing engines.
• Knowledge of satellite-communications standards such as NR NTN, DVB-S2x, and CCSDS.
• Familiarity with at least one scripting language and one programming language (preferably Python and C++).
• Collaborative experience with product/component developers and vendors providing critical system functionality.
• Experience with optical communication systems is advantageous.
• Proven ability to set work direction, track milestones, and show progress on extensive projects.
