Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Big Data Engineer / Technical Lead with strong
engineering experience to own, optimize, and scale enterprise data platforms. This role requires
deep hands-on expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead a team while
ensuring platform performance, capacity readiness, and technical clarity through solid
documentation.
Key Responsibilities
• Act as an support engineer, resolving complex production issues and performing in-depth root
cause analysis
• Design, build, and maintain big data platforms based on the Hadoop ecosystem
• Lead platform capacity planning, including resource forecasting, workload analysis, and growth
planning
• Continuously optimize platform performance (query tuning, memory/CPU utilization, storage
efficiency)
• Own Starburst (Trino/Presto) deployments, query optimization, and workload management
• Develop and support analytics and dashboards using Tableau
• Support data science and analytics workloads through JupyterHub
• Establish monitoring, alerting, and performance baselines for proactive issue prevention
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align platform capabilities with business requirements
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across the team
• Drive best practices for reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence
Documentation & Process Ownership
• Create and maintain technical documentation including architecture diagrams, runbooks, SOPs,
and troubleshooting guides
• Document capacity plans, optimization strategies, and performance benchmarks
• Ensure knowledge transfer and platform transparency across engineering and support teams
Required Skills & Qualifications
• 8–10 years of experience in big data engineering and platform support
• Strong hands-on experience with Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Hive, Spark, etc.)
• Proven expertise in Starburst (or Trino/Presto)
• Hands-on experience with Tableau
• Experience supporting JupyterHub in production environments
• Strong understanding of capacity planning, performance tuning, and resource optimization
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
