As a Principal Applied Scientist at Onfido, you'll lead a team of AI scientists in developing cutting-edge fraud detection systems and AI solutions for digital identity. You'll work on complex problems like uncertainty modeling, interpretable AI, and adversarial attack protection.
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing technical leadership and fostering a culture of creativity and excellence within the team.
• Initiating, planning, and driving projects to bring next-generation digital onboarding products to market.
• Designing and building high-performance end-to-end systems for identity verification, spanning data acquisition, processing, and post-processing.
• Mentoring junior scientists and delivering innovative technologies that utilize every bit of signal in the data.
• Participating in hands-on machine learning research and delivering results through new products.
• Communicating technical vision and roadmap across multiple levels within the organization and externally.
• Representing Onfido at national and international scientific conferences and publishing research results in top-tier conferences and journals.
The ideal candidate holds a PhD or MSc degree in Machine Learning, Computer Vision, or a related quantitative field. They have extensive experience in machine learning and computer vision, a track record of delivering high-performance ML-driven products, and strong coding skills in Python (C++ is a plus).
