Position Overview
We are seeking a Power System Engineer to support the design, analysis, testing, and maintenance of protection and control systems for transmission and distribution networks.
This role is responsible for ensuring system protection schemes operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with applicable reliability standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design, review, and implement protective relay settings for transmission and distribution systems
Perform short-circuit, coordination, and protection studies
Develop and maintain protection philosophies, logic diagrams, and relay setting files
Support commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of protective relays and control systems
Analyze relay operations and misoperations; prepare event reports and corrective action plans
Coordinate protection schemes with internal teams, utilities, ISO/RTOs, and external stakeholders
Ensure compliance with NERC PRC standards, regional reliability requirements, and company standards
Support capital projects, system upgrades, and substation modernization efforts
Review vendor drawings, relay logic, and protection designs
Provide technical support to operations and field personnel
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
3–8+ years of experience in relay protection, protection & control, or power system engineering
Experience with microprocessor-based protective relays (SEL, GE, ABB/Hitachi, Siemens, etc.)
Proficiency with protection study tools such as ASPEN OneLiner, CAPE, SKM, or ETAP
Strong understanding of transmission and/or distribution protection schemes
Familiarity with relay testing and commissioning practices
Ability to interpret one-lines, schematics, and wiring diagrams
