Position Overview
Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA, Inc.) is seeking a Platform Engineer for a CONTRACT assignment with one of our premier Financial Services clients in New York, NY. This role collaborates with development architects, clients, and business analysts to deliver efficient, scalable solutions. Compensation: Base pay range is $95.00/hr - $98.00/hr; actual pay will be based on skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities
• Work closely with development architects, clients, and business analysts to build efficient solutions leveraging the appropriate technology stack.
• Develop services and utilities using Python/Java.
• Exhibit a self-driven attitude with strong design and coding capabilities.
• Ensure a consistent and fast deployment pipeline.
• Create tooling to enhance developer experience.
• Collaborate with application teams to understand their needs and improve system performance.
• Stay aligned with firmwide tools and processes.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 5+ years of hands-on application development experience.
• 5+ years in SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering roles.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, Shell, RESTful WebServices, and Ansible.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and other container orchestration tools.
• Strong RDBMS knowledge (preferably MSSQL/PostgreSQL).
• Familiarity with Observability stacks such as Prometheus, Loki, Jaeger, and Grafana.
• Experience with Kafka.
• Excellent communication skills to interact directly with clients and analysts.
• Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and service-oriented architecture, Object-Oriented Design, and Design Patterns.
• Strong analytical and design skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical designs.
• Comfortable working in a Unix environment and experience with web servers such as Apache and Tomcat.
• Ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of GIT/Jenkins.
• Familiarity with Sonar, Cypress, Fortify, and other standard code coverage/testing tools.
• Experience in automation testing using tools such as Junit/Mockito, Maven/Gradle.
• Background in DevOps and Cloud.
• Experience with BDD.
