We are looking for a forward-thinking and experienced Data Science Director to lead our efforts in the Employee Benefits sector. In this pivotal role, you will join a collaborative team of data scientists, engineers, and industry experts to deliver AI solutions that achieve significant business impacts.
You will have the chance to revolutionize underwriting, claims, and customer experiences within Employee Benefits through advanced AI capabilities. As a leader, you will guide projects from inception to implementation, focusing on the development of sophisticated AI models and real-time decision-making systems. We foster a culture of experimentation and teamwork across our organization.
This role offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring three days a week of in-office presence at one of our locations in Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT, or Charlotte, NC.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the full lifecycle of AI solutions for Employee Benefits, from defining problems to successful deployment in production.
• Partner with business leaders, engineers, and domain experts to identify high-value use cases.
• Design and implement innovative workflows and AI systems aimed at improving underwriting and claims processes.
• Create reusable AI components and evaluation frameworks to ensure compliance with enterprise standards.
• Mentor and develop a team of data scientists, emphasizing technical proficiency and career growth.
• Collaborate with the AI Enablement and Science Excellence teams to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with our strategic objectives.
• Stay informed about emerging AI technologies to evaluate their relevance to the Employee Benefits industry.
Qualifications:
• Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or a related analytical field, or evidence of progress toward a relevant professional designation.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in AI, machine learning, or data science, specifically in producing high-quality solutions.
• Proven experience managing data science teams and guiding models through the development process.
• Track record of successfully leading cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise-scale AI solutions.
• Expertise in LLMs, Generative AI, and multimodal systems.
• Strong knowledge of insurance workflows, particularly in Employee Benefits, is a plus.
• Exceptional communication skills and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable business strategies and vice versa.
• Experience in driving project execution and transforming core business processes using innovative quantitative techniques.

Compensation: The listed annualized base pay range is based on an analysis of comparable positions in the market. Actual base pay may vary and could be above or below the listed range based on factors such as performance and relevant competencies. The annualized base pay range for this position is $153,200 - $229,800.
