Job Description
• Network Design & Implementation:
• Design and implement scalable and secure network architectures encompassing Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), and Data Center Networks (DCNs).
• Select and configure network devices like routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers to optimize network performance and security.
• Oversee the design and implementation of structured cabling systems (copper and fiber optic) to support network connectivity across all locations.
• Network Operations & Maintenance:
• Proactively monitor network performance using monitoring tools and identify potential issues before they impact operations.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity problems, ensuring efficient resolution and minimal downtime.
• Implement network security best practices and maintain robust network access controls.
• Manage network configurations and documentation for smooth operation and future reference.
• WAN Optimization & Connectivity:
• Design and implement secure and reliable WAN connections for optimal communication between geographically dispersed locations (MPLS, VPN, SD-WAN).
• Configure and manage WAN optimization solutions to improve application performance over long distances.
• Monitor WAN performance and bandwidth utilization, identifying bottlenecks and implementing optimization strategies.
• Security & Compliance:
• Proactively monitor network activity for suspicious behavior and potential security incidents.
• Participate in incident response procedures to identify, contain, and remediate security breaches.
• Analyze security logs and network traffic to identify root causes of security incidents and prevent future occurrences.
o Prioritize and implement timely security patches and updates to mitigate vulnerabilities and minimize risks.
o Ensure network infrastructure and configurations adhere to relevant industry security standards and local compliance regulations.
• Work with IT security and cybersecurity teams to implement and maintain necessary security controls.
• Capacity Planning & Futureproofing:
• Analyze current and projected network traffic to proactively plan for future network capacity needs.
• Research and recommend innovative network technologies and solutions to enhance performance, security, and scalability.
• Analyze current and projected data center resource utilization (power, cooling, space) to anticipate future needs
• Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in network engineering.
• Data Center Operations & Maintenance:
• Supervise regular preventive maintenance on all data center equipment – power distribution units (PDUs), cooling systems, fire suppression systems, and more.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data center environment metrics like temperature, humidity, and power usage to ensure optimal performance and adherence to industry standards.
• Oversee the implementation of new equipment and technologies in the data center environment.
• Oversee the implementation of corrective actions and repairs to maintain equipment functionality and minimize downtime.
• Implement cable management best practices to ensure proper airflow and organization within the data center.
• Lead data center infrastructure upgrade projects, ensuring timely and successful completion within budget constraints
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of data center equipment, configurations, and maintenance procedures.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 4+ years of experience in network design, implementation, and administration.
• Proven experience in managing complex network environments, including LANs, WANs, SD-WAN and DCNs.
• In-depth knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.) and network security principles.
• Experience with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG).
• Familiarity with structured cabling best practices and standards (TIA/EIA-568).
• In-depth understanding of data center infrastructure components (power, cooling, fire suppression, networking).
• Knowledge of data center design principles and best practices
• Familiarity with data center monitoring and management tools
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• A passion for technology and a commitment to continuous learning.
