Job Description As a data-driven organization, Covista relies on its Data Engineering team to create data solutions that inform strategic business decisions and support analytics and AI initiatives. We are seeking a Lead Data Engineer who will design, build, and maintain robust data engineering solutions that align with our innovation goals and growth objectives. • Architect and optimize scalable data pipelines for real-time, unstructured, and synthetic datasets. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and product owners to deliver impactful data solutions. • Develop and support high-performance data pipelines for inbound and outbound data flows. • Model the data platform by incorporating business logic and creating objects within the semantic layer. • Utilize streaming technologies and cloud platforms for real-time data processing and analytics. • Enhance data pipelines to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and reliability. • Implement CI/CD pipelines for the continuous deployment of data products. • Maintain data quality and collaborate with system owners to address and remediate data issues. • Document the design and operational strategies of the data pipelines. • Capture and maintain data lineage and operational metadata. • Troubleshoot and resolve data engineering challenges as they occur. • Develop REST APIs to make data accessible to internal teams. • Stay updated with emerging technologies and trends in big data, streaming, and synthetic data. • Mentor junior data engineers to foster their growth and skills development. Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related fields. • Master's Degree in a relevant technical field with at least two years of experience using Google Cloud services such as BigQuery, Composer, GCS, DataStream, Dataflows, BQML, and Vertex AI. • Over six years of experience in data engineering solutions involving data platforms, ingestion, management, and analytics. • Hands-on experience with real-time, unstructured, and synthetic data. • Proficiency in real-time data ingestion using GCP PubSub, Kafka, Spark, or similar technologies. • Expertise in Python programming and SQL. • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their associated data services. • Familiarity with workflow management tools like Airflow for data extraction and ingestion. • Knowledge of synthetic data generation and processing of unstructured data. • Experience in AI/ML data pipelines and frameworks. • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. • A track record of successful incremental project execution. • Experience working within an agile development environment. #CVSA Additional Information In accordance with pay transparency laws, the anticipated salary range for this role is $84,835.61 to $149,076.17. Actual compensation will consider experience, training, location, and market factors.
