Position Overview
The DevOps Operations Specialist bridges software development and IT Operations to improve delivery velocity, system reliability, and infrastructure automation. This role has a hands-on and major impact, focusing on modernizing deployment practices, strengthening operational resilience, and reducing manual effort through automation.
The role works closely with Software Engineering, Infrastructure, Quality Assurance, and Database Engineering to design and implement scalable, secure, and reliable DevOps practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
• Release & Deployment Automation
: Own and evolve the application release process in partnership with Software Engineering, enabling reliable and repeatable automated deployments.
• CI/CD Engineering:
Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines that support rapid, secure, and high-quality releases.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using Bicep or Terraform, enforcing consistency and repeatability.
• Operational Automation & Scripting:
High proficiency in PowerShell, Python, or Bash, with experience using automation and orchestration tools such as Ansible, Azure Automation, and CI/CD pipeline tooling.
• System Reliability & Monitoring
: Improve system observability, monitor platform health, and lead troubleshooting efforts for production issues.
• Containerization
: Support and standardize containerized workloads using Docker and Azure Container Registry (ACR).
• DevSecOps Enablement
: Embed security controls, secrets management, and automated vulnerability scanning into CI/CD pipelines.
• Cloud Operations (Azure)
: Support and optimize Azure IaaS and PaaS services (VMs, App Services, Functions, DBaaS) with a focus on availability, performance, and cost efficiency.
Success Criteria & Expected Outcomes
• CI/CD pipelines are stable, standardized, and largely self-service for engineering teams.
• Manual deployment and infrastructure changes are significantly reduced or eliminated.
• Infrastructure is consistently managed via Infrastructure as Code, with clear patterns and documentation.
• Clear operational runbooks, monitoring, and alerting are in place for supported platforms.
• Engineering and Operations teams report improved deployment reliability, reduced production incidents related to release processes, and faster delivery cycles.
Skills & Qualifications
• CI/CD:
Strong hands-on experience with Azure DevOps; GitHub Actions experience is an asset.
• Infrastructure as Code:
Proven experience using Bicep or Terraform.
• Source Control:
Advanced experience with Git-based workflows (branching strategies, pull requests).
• Automation & Scripting:
Proficiency in PowerShell, Python, or Bash, Ansible, Azure Automation, and CI/CD pipeline tooling
• Containers:
Experience building and operating Docker containers and Azure Container Registry.
• Cloud Infrastructure
: Experience supporting Azure IaaS and PaaS services. AWS experience is a plus.
• Networking & Identity
: Working knowledge of Azure networking and Entra ID.
• Monitoring:
Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and alerting.
Education, Certifications, and Experience
• Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5–8+ years of experience, with demonstrated ownership of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and cloud operations. Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-400) and container-related certifications are desirable.
• ITIL certification or experience in an ITIL-based environment is an asset.
