IT Director and Project Management Officer This is a well-established Montreal-based company, founded 70 years ago and is recognized as one of North America’s leading importers and distributors of high-end natural stone, engineered slabs, ceramic tiles, artistic mosaics, hardwood flooring, and premium finishing materials sourced from exclusive quarries and manufacturers around the world. Its business spans multiple channels, including a retail division that inspires homeowners and designers, a commercial division supporting large-scale residential, commercial, and institutional projects, and a wholesale arm serving contractors, builders, and trade professionals with efficient procurement and project-ready solutions. With a strong focus on quality, design, and expertise, they act as a trusted partner from material selection through project completion. The Role: The Director of Information Technology and PMO is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for driving technology and project excellence across a retail and wholesale distribution business focused on hard goods. This role oversees enterprise-wide project delivery and ensures IT systems support scalable operations, efficient distribution, and superior customer experience across all business channels. The Director ensures that technology and project initiatives align with the company’s growth goals, operational needs, and evolving customer expectations. Title: IT Director and PMO Location: Montréal, Work model: In-office 5 days a week. (If there is hesitancy we can discuss, don’t let it be a blocker) Type of position: Full time, permanent OR contract-to permanent Salary: Very open on salary, ideally 170-190k + 15% bonus. 4 weeks’ vacation + benefits. They have a Group RRSP plan. The environment: The company has a wide range in its business. They house all the IT in Montreal for the three main parts of their operations which are Wholesale, Retail and the commercial side. They have 2 production facilities, 7 main retail locations, 4 in Quebec and 3 in Ontario. They also have wholesale locations, 3 in Atlanta, Detroit and Brooklyn. There is a bigger push for wholesale now. And they also have a sizeable part of their business attached to commercial side with partnerships for condo and housing construction. In terms of management, you would be working closely with 8-12 people, 3-4 developers, 1 Business Analyst, 1 pricing Analyst , 2 Trainers for ERP systems. You will also interact with local IT managers in Ontario and Quebec. The role would require good soft skills to deal with different stakeholders throughout the company. Key Responsibilities: Information Technology Leadership • Develop and execute the IT roadmap, ensuring alignment with business strategy and operational needs. • Lead IT infrastructure, systems, cybersecurity, and support services for both corporate and retail/distribution locations. • Oversee implementation and maintenance of core business systems, including: o ERP (e.g., Epicor/P21 & Power ware) o BI tool & CRM o Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) o eCommerce platforms • Support data integration across retail, wholesale, and online channels for a unified customer experience and real-time inventory visibility. • Ensure system scalability to support growth through new locations and digital channels PMO Leadership & Project Delivery • Lead and oversee the Project Management Office (PMO) to standardize project delivery across the organization. • Manage a portfolio of strategic projects including ERP & Telephone system upgrades, POS/WMS system rollouts, eCommerce integration, and supply chain optimization • Drive cross-functional collaboration across Sales, Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, and IT teams to ensure smooth execution of initiatives. • Develop and monitor KPIs to measure project performance and ROI. • Lead change management efforts to ensure adoption and success of new systems or processes. Operational & Strategic Alignment • Partner with business leaders to identify and prioritize IT and project needs that improve efficiency, margin, and customer satisfaction. • Oversee vendor selection, contract negotiation, and performance management for technology and service providers. • Ensure cybersecurity, data privacy, and compliance with industry regulations • Drive innovation in customer experience, distribution efficiency, and digital transformation. Team & Leadership • Lead and mentor high-performing teams in both project management and IT operations. • Foster a collaborative, service-oriented, and results-driven culture across departments. • Provide leadership in risk management, issue resolution, and stakeholder communication. Qualifications: Education: • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field. • Master’s degree (MBA or MS in Information Systems) preferred. • PMP, ITIL, or similar certifications highly desirable. Experience & Skills: • 10+ years in IT and project leadership, preferably in retail, wholesale distribution, or logistics. • Experience with ERP, WMS, BI & CRM tools, and omnichannel retail platforms. • Proven success managing large-scale projects with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment. • Strong understanding of supply chain processes, inventory management, and B2B/B2C operations. • Strategic thinking with operational execution. • Excellent leadership and team-building skills. • Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving capabilities. • Deep understanding of retail and distribution tech stacks and best practices. Work Environment: • On-site presence at Montreal headquarters • Occasional travel to retail locations, warehouses, or vendor sites.
