As an Intermediate Instrumentation & Control Engineer for our Toronto team, you will deliver engineering expertise across the full project lifecycle from initial planning and studies through detailed engineering and construction support. Working as part of a diverse, multidisciplinary team, you will apply sound engineering judgment and advanced technical principles to solve complex client challenges. You will be responsible for providing I&C engineering services for municipal clients, with a strong focus on water and wastewater treatment facilities. Your role will include concept development, system architecture, detailed engineering, and support through construction and commissioning. You can expect the work to include site visits (up to a week at one time), client meetings, coordination with other disciplines and internal team members, design calculations, quality control checks, coordinating with suppliers/vendors/manufacturers, development of contract drawings/specifications, and more. Key Responsibilities • Provide I&C engineering services throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and feasibility to construction support • Develop control system architectures, control philosophies, specifications, and design deliverables • Select and specify instrumentation field components for process monitoring and control • Select and specify components for security card access systems, public address systems, telephone and communication systems. • Prepare technical reports, Process Control Narratives, contract tender specifications and other documents throughout the course of design and construction • Lead and support I&C engineering design and construction activities for water and wastewater treatment facilities • Perform technical reviews and ensure compliance with engineering standards and best practices • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, process, civil engineering, structural and construction administration teams throughout all project phases • Review submittals and shop drawings during construction for compliance with design and contract requirements • Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and startup, witness and actively participate in construction progress inspections, commissioning, testing and startup • Apply Canadian and project-specific codes, standards, and regulations Here's what you'll need • CEAB accredited engineering degree or equivalent • Minimum 5 years of experience in control systems engineering and control system design for municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities or similar industrial experience • Demonstrated experience in electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for water and wastewater treatment plants (required). Demonstrated experience in other industries such as chemical, manufacturing and oil and gas may also be considered. • Extensive progressive experience in engineering and adherence to best engineering practices • Working knowledge of 3D modeling tools used in engineering design environments • Working knowledge (proficiency) of 2D CAD systems (AutoCAD and MicroStation) • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications. • Know Canadian and local codes and standards • P.Eng. (or eligibility for registration in Canada) is required Posted Salary Range Minimum 80,000.00 Posted Salary Range Upper 125,000.00 The base salary range for this position is $80,000.00 to $125,000.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across Ontario, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
