Position Overview
The BCSC is seeking a dedicated Inquiries Officer to join our Contact Centre team. As the first point of contact for the public, industry representatives, and other stakeholders, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional service on behalf of the BCSC.
In this dynamic position, you will respond to inquiries from the general public and industry participants, offering clear information and helpful guidance. You will also assess incoming enforcement and compliance-related complaints, ensuring actionable matters are accurately documented and communicated to the appropriate BCSC teams.

Key Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities include:
• Respond to telephone, email, and online inquiries from the public, industry professionals and market participants, and document information into our internal systems
• Document and summarize complaints; request further information from subject matter experts when needed and forward to the appropriate BCSC business division
• Provide technical guidance to outside lawyers, auditors, and companies to assist with filing on CSA national systems
• Develop appropriate solutions/responses based on a thorough analysis of the facts
• Use BCSC websites and internal databases to respond to inquiries and complaints
• Identify and categorize inquiries, understanding when they need to be sent to other agencies
• Keep abreast of changes to legislation, policies, industry trends, policy development, and current events in order to anticipate and proactively respond to inquiries from the public
• Liaise with business groups throughout the BCSC to discuss service priorities and disseminate information to the team
• Other duties as required or needed, such as posting information to BCSC websites.
Qualifications
Your qualifications include:
• Post-secondary diploma, plus a minimum of two (2) years relevant experience required, including customer service and financial industry experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Customer service and/or contact centre experience
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Superior interpersonal and listening skills, and an ability to de-escalate situations
• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and communicate complex financial or business information clearly
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Able to work with little direct supervision in a team environment
• Willingness to take initiative to improve services and processes
• Proven ability to attend to details, multi-task, and achieve a high degree of accuracy
These additional qualifications would be considered an asset:
• Superior computer, phone and word processing skills
• Knowledge of the BCSC and its functions as well as a working knowledge of B.C.’s securities legislation and policies, especially related to enforcement
• Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of participants in the securities industry and their self-regulatory organizations
• Successful completion of the Canadian Securities Course and customer service training
• Additional language skills in Mandarin, Cantonese, Punjabi or French

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $57,150 (minimum) - $71,439 (midpoint) - $85,727 (maximum).
The starting salary for this position will be determined considering the successful candidate’s relevant experience and education, salaries of other employees in the same salary range, market conditions, and other relevant factors. Starting salaries are normally below the salary band midpoint.
