About the Role
We are looking for a Head of AI & Applied Intelligence to join a startup focused on rethinking early decision-making in the built environment. This is a founding-level, hands-on role for someone who wants to design and ship real-world AI systems, not research papers.
You will own the AI decision layer of the product, translating complex inputs into actionable outputs and work directly with the CEO and engineering team to embed intelligence into core workflows.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of computer vision, optimization, and product engineering, and wants to shape a system from first principles.
What You’ll Do
• Design and build applied AI systems that support early-stage planning and configuration decisions.
• Develop and integrate computer vision models for spatial, geometric, or environmental understanding.
• Apply reinforcement learning and optimization techniques to explore tradeoffs and system constraints.
• Work closely with full-stack engineers to deploy models into production, not prototypes.
• Define AI architecture, modeling assumptions, and iteration strategy.
• Help shape the long-term AI roadmap while delivering near-term, usable outcomes.
Who You Are
• Experienced in applied machine learning, not just theory.
• Comfortable working across CV, optimization, and system-level decision models.
• Able to operate in ambiguity and make pragmatic technical choices.
• Excited by early-stage ownership, fast iteration, and equity-driven upside.
• Motivated by building systems that affect real-world outcomes.
Why This Is Rare
• Founding-level ownership of the AI layer
• Direct influence on product and system architecture
• Equity-first role with long-term leverage
• Opportunity to define how intelligence is embedded into an emerging category
