UHN Data & Analytics supports UHN in data-driven decisions, data literacy, performance improvement, data governance, data infrastructure/tools, advanced analytics, and automation.
The Business Intelligence & Automation Team works under the direction of the Chief Data & Analytics Officer and in tight partnership with clinical & administrative leadership, advancing UHN to the next phase of our analytics and business intelligence ecosystem while leading the delivery of actionable insights and recommendations to boost operational performance.
• *OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION**:
Reporting within UHN’s Data & Analytics department, supporting the Business Intelligence portfolio, the **Data Storyteller** will play a critical role in collaborating with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders across the organization to understand enterprise data, create meaningful insight and build business intelligence tools to support the organization in understanding and using its data to drive decision making.
As a member of the Data & Analytics team, the Data Storyteller exercises considerable judgment and independence in supporting corporate, strategic, and operational initiatives. The responsibilities include:
- Convert business problems to decision intelligence solutions using data-driven visual stories and data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI
- Articulate business needs clearly and create data-driven content with unique narratives for target use cases through presentations, reporting tools and visualization
- Conceptualize and deliver data visualization solutions solving complex clinical, non-clinical and operational business problems, interpreting, visualizing and summarizing data in an easy to interpret manner
- Act as an advisor for multi-disciplinary teams across the organization to assist in development of best-in-class data-driven visual stories & BI tools
- Identify and propose appropriate analytics solutions through stakeholder engagement, literature review and requirements gathering
- Lead project planning and implementation utilizing strong project management skills (project scoping, planning, implementation, evaluation, risk assessment, benefits realization) and applicable industry experience
- Assists in interpretation of results and preparation of material for business case development, presentation, and/or publications
- Collaborate with colleagues, business teams and other stakeholders to integrate, analyze and interpret datasets to develop, review and refine user stories and business intelligence tools to support decision making
- Comfortable with iterative and agile processes to continuously improve deliverables based on team and leadership feedback

Data & Analytics
- Be proficient in data sourcing, predictive analytics, modeling, simulation, dashboard development and data visualization
- Able to determine business insights and opportunities through the collection, assessment, analysis, and visualization of data
- Possess knowledge and experience of the data and analytics life cycle
- Business requirements knowledge in the areas of gathering and documenting requirements, workflow, and process modeling
- Ability to break down complex problems into smaller actionable pieces
- Ability to work with and make appropriate decisions/recommendations with incomplete datasets
Project Management
- Possess experience working on multiple projects from initiation to close-out, including scoping, planning, implementation, issue/risk management and benefits realization
