Robotics Software Engineer – Teleoperation & Latency Optimization Location: New York City (On-site) Salary: $200,000 – $275,000 + Equity (up to 1.5%) + Great benefits package The Role I’m working with a fast-growing robotics startup developing general-purpose robotic systems for the real world, no rigid industrial cells or month-long integration timelines. These are flexible, production-ready systems designed to be deployed in hours, not weeks. They’re currently looking for a Robotics Software Engineer to take ownership of their teleoperation stack, specifically focused on driving latency as close to zero as possible across hardware, networking, and software layers. This is a rare chance to join an engineering-led company with revenue-generating deployments already in the field and momentum to scale quickly. What You’ll Be Working On • Latency optimization across the full stack – from video encoding and networking protocols to custom middleware and hardware drivers. • Design and implementation of high-fidelity teleoperation systems, ensuring intuitive, real-time control of robotic arms across variable conditions. • Development of robust interfaces that enable safe and reliable human-robot-AI interaction in dynamic, production-level environments. • Hardware evaluation and system integration – selecting, testing, and interfacing with arms, end effectors, cameras, and other critical hardware. • Simulation development – building fast, realistic environments for testing and iteration prior to deployment. • Customer site deployments – occasional travel (~1x/month) to help install, troubleshoot, and observe robots in live environments. About You • Strong background in robotics software, particularly around teleoperation, networking, and real-time systems. • Fluency in C++ and Python, and comfort writing high-performance, production-grade code. • Experience with control systems, constrained inverse kinematics, and robotics middleware (e.g., ROS/ROS2). • You understand the system holistically, from the physical hardware up to the UI, and know how each layer affects latency. • Bonus points for hands-on experience with custom electronics, PCB design, or reading robotics papers in your downtime. Why This Role? • Meaningful equity (up to 1.5%) in a company with a deployed product and proven demand • $200K–$275K base salary + benefits • Founding team with multiple successful exits • Fast, mission-driven team where engineers own real-world impact • A real shot at defining how general-purpose robots are controlled and deployed at scale If you're passionate about building seamless human-robot interfaces and have strong opinions about what “real-time” should actually mean, let’s connect. This role is high-impact, high-trust, and hiring now. With only a 2-stage interview process, due to complete ASAP!
