About the Role:
• The bank's Capital Markets division is undergoing a major modernization of its capital reporting and analytics environment.
• As the team transitions from legacy Excel- and Access-based workflows toward a fully automated, Power BI-driven reporting ecosystem, we are seeking a Lead Data Analyst / ETL Developer to drive transformation across data pipelines, reporting, automation, and process optimization.
• This role is ideal for someone who combines deep technical expertise in Python, SQL, ETL pipelines, data modeling, and automation with strong business acumen in financial or capital markets environments.
• You will work closely with senior stakeholders, capital reporting SMEs, and technology partners to modernize data processes, streamline reporting, enhance controls, and deliver meaningful insights to the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Engineering & ETL
• Design, build, and optimize ETL pipelines to support Capital Reporting datasets (daily, monthly, and regulatory reporting cycles).
• Write and maintain high-performance Python scripts for automation, data reconciliation, and transformation tasks.
• Develop advanced SQL queries, stored procedures, and optimized data extraction frameworks across multiple upstream systems.
• Ensure all ETL processes follow best practices in version control, documentation, and production readiness.
Reporting & Power BI Modernization
• Lead the transition from Excel-based reporting to Power BI dashboards and standardized data models.
• Build semantic models, DAX calculations, and reusable datasets to support business-critical reporting.
• Implement governance, refresh schedules, and source-of-truth validations for Power BI assets.
• Integrate solutions with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) where required.
Data Analysis & Process Optimization
• Analyze large datasets to identify data gaps, inconsistencies, and improvement opportunities.
• Document current-state processes and design future-state workflows to reduce manual touchpoints and operational risk.
• Support process automation using VBA, macros, and scripting to replace legacy workflows.
• Build and maintain detailed metadata, data dictionaries, and technical specifications.
Stakeholder Engagement
• Partner with Capital Reporting SMEs, Risk, Technology, Finance, and Front Office teams to gather requirements.
• Translate business needs into technical solutions with clarity and precision.
• Present findings, roadmaps, and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively within a diverse team, maintaining a learner’s mindset and continuous-improvement approach.
