At Sirona Medical, we're revolutionizing the way physicians work by creating software that empowers them to operate at the speed of thought. In the U.S., billions of patient images are reviewed by radiologists each year. These experts play a critical role in diagnostic medicine, as over 80% of healthcare data is processed through radiology IT systems. However, the current landscape of fragmented and outdated software hampers their efficiency and the quality of patient care. That's where Sirona steps in. We are a cloud-native software company based in San Francisco, with a globally distributed team, dedicated to transforming radiology through our advanced product, RadOS. This unified, AI-driven operating system optimizes the entire radiology workflow. Our Approach to Transformation Sirona is poised to change how radiology operates by delivering: • A cohesive, user-friendly, and platform-agnostic solution. • A streamlined workspace that enhances every aspect of the radiologist's workflow. • The flexibility to read images from anywhere, accommodating various needs. By reducing unnecessary steps, optimizing diagnostic times, and creating efficiencies that permeate beyond the reading room, Sirona empowers radiologists and, in the process, enhances the overall healthcare system's effectiveness and patient outcomes. We are on the lookout for a Lead Front-End Engineer to play a pivotal role in designing and developing innovative, responsive user experiences that integrate intelligent AI capabilities. As part of our Innovation team, you will be instrumental in exploring how advanced AI and agentic workflows can reshape clinical operations. Your focus will be on crafting intuitive, high-performance, and adaptable UIs that translate these capabilities into real-world applications for radiologists. This position encompasses front-end and full-stack responsibilities: you will architect core SDKs, create reusable components, define interactions with backend and AI services, and prototype the next generation of user experiences that streamline radiology workflows. You will collaborate closely with product designers, backend engineers, and AI researchers to push the boundaries of what’s possible, ensuring that impactful ideas transition smoothly into production. Sirona Medical operates on a remote-first basis, with occasional travel required to our San Francisco office (approximately 3-4 days every other quarter). Why Become a Part of Sirona? • Make a meaningful impact: Your contributions will directly influence how physicians engage with AI, accelerating clinical processes and improving patient outcomes. • Prototype with purpose: Rapidly explore, validate, and scale solutions that truly enhance user experiences. • Deep collaboration: Partner with AI researchers, product designers, and radiologists to innovate. • Shape the future of healthcare: Define the integration of intelligent systems into clinical workflows. Your Responsibilities Will Include: • Designing and implementing modern, scalable front-end systems using React, TypeScript, and GraphQL. • Building SDKs and reusable component libraries that facilitate interaction between AI systems and product interfaces. • Prototyping intelligent, data-rich workflows that seamlessly integrate human interaction with AI assistance. • Collaborating across the stack to connect front-end features with Python/FastAPI backends and APIs. • Teaming up with AI and backend engineers to create clean, efficient interfaces between systems. • Developing UI patterns that effectively visualize AI reasoning and foster real-time collaboration. • Establishing engineering best practices that emphasize modularity, observability, and performance. • Mentoring fellow engineers and guiding the technical trajectory across Sirona's product suite. What We Are Looking For: • Over 8 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong focus on front-end technologies and full-stack competency. • Expertise in React, TypeScript, and GraphQL, along with a solid understanding of front-end architecture and performance optimization. • Experience in building and maintaining internal SDKs, reusable component libraries, or frameworks that enable front-end and backend/AI service interaction. • Proficiency in API design and integration, including REST and GraphQL, alongside familiarity with backend frameworks like Python/FastAPI. • A proven background in creating or integrating AI-driven product experiences, leveraging both traditional machine learning models and emerging technologies such as large language models (LLMs). • Experience in designing user interfaces that render AI outputs actionable, comprehensible, and reliable. • Great product intuition and user experience sensitivity; you design tools that are intuitive, fluid, and user-friendly. • Ability to thrive in cross-functional teams alongside designers, backend engineers, and AI experts. • Comfort with transitioning between prototyping and production code; able to rapidly validate concepts and deliver robust, maintainable systems. • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical and product considerations clearly. Preferred Qualifications: • Prior experience in the healthcare sector, especially involving DICOM, HL7, or EMR/EHR data. Benefits: • Stock options. • Unlimited paid time off. • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance. • Life insurance coverage. • Maternity and paternity leave. • 401(k) with matching contributions. • Apple hardware provision. • Support for attending conferences and pursuing further education. • An opportunity to work with cutting-edge AI technology in a mission-driven and impactful environment.
