We’re a small independent bakery in Vancouver serving the Jericho beach community. Our partners include small farm-to-table and award-winning restaurants who share our passion for quality products. We strive to offer the very best while pursuing ethical and sustainable practices consistent with the values of our staff, customers and community. We’re seeking an experienced supervisor and barista to lead our front-of-house (FOH) team. A dynamic individual that leads by example, possesses great work ethic, a positive attitude, and an eagerness to deliver the best possible experience to each customer. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working leading a team of 2-4 employees, early mornings, have excellent attention to detail and a passion for coffee and baked goods. This is a permanent position. We offer our own in-house coffee roasted by our Master Roaster, Q Grader and Green Coffee Buyer. This may offer the ideal candidate the opportunity to explore the coffee roasting industry, including cupping, roasting, and sourcing. Pooled tips are equivalent to +$2-3 per hour. An extended shared benefits plan is offered to full-time employees after 6 months. The right candidate need to be available from Wednesday to Sunday. Wage based on experience. Personal Qualities: Punctual, reliable and able to work early mornings, physically fit, able to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects. Positive attitude and exceptional customer service, have organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and able to prioritize, possess a hunger for knowledge, and strong motivation for personal growth. Able to give direction, delegate and communicate within a team environment and excellent attention to detail and a passion in the food industry. Duties: Supervisor • Able to give direction and support your coworkers • Clear and effective communication, provide feedback. • Problem solving • Strong organizational skills • Ability to manage and resolve conflicts • Leading by example and fostering a positive work environment BARISTA • A methodical approach to coffee making in order to maximize speed and efficiency • Be able to adjust a variety of espresso on the fly to maintain consistent taste profiles • Steaming milk & plant based alternatives to the correct temperature and texture (Latte art a plus) • Train new staff on our drink making methods, and maintain a consistent and high quality for all staff • Ensure all coffee and bar related equipment go through daily and weekly cleaning procedures • Be able to perform basic maintenance on coffee equipment. • Regularly communicate with our coffee roaster to discuss anything related to the product, including taking part in occasional coffee tastings and evaluation. CUSTOMER SERVICE • Perform opening and closing shifts; including setting up store, restocking shelves and cleaning. • Greet customers, take their orders, and ensure orders are processed and prepared in a timely fashion. • Have a strong knowledge of all products. • Prepare, heat & serve various food items. • Maintain a clean and sanitary café & work space (Food Safe certificate needed!) • Collect payment, able to handle cash. • Dishes and cleaning maintenance. • Pack retail & wholesale orders.
