About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and collaborative Python Software Engineer to join the technology team at a leading NYC-based investment and financial services firm. This role involves building and maintaining robust data pipelines and infrastructure that support high-stakes decision-making across the firm.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with a consultative mindset—someone who enjoys working closely with non-engineering stakeholders to transform data requests into actionable solutions.
Responsibilities
• Develop, design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python, SQL, and Airflow or other ETL orchestration platforms.
• Integrate diverse data sources into a centralized platform, ensuring accuracy, performance, and reliability.
• Translate non-technical requests into clear engineering specifications and deliver clean, business-ready data products.
• Leverage cloud infrastructure (preferably GCP/BigQuery) to scale and optimize data workflows.
• Collaborate across teams—investment analysts, operations, research—to enable data-driven decisions.
• Write production-quality code with attention to reusability, performance, and documentation.
• Participate in architectural discussions and help drive improvements to our data systems.
Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience in software and data engineering roles.
• Fluency in Python and SQL, with strong data manipulation and transformation skills.
• Practical experience with Airflow, or similar orchestration/workflow tools.
• Familiarity with GCP, BigQuery, or similar cloud-based data platforms.
• Strong communication skills, especially with non-technical or business-facing teams.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in the financial domain (e.g., investment data, market data, or reporting systems).
• Familiarity with containerized environments and version control best practices (Docker, Git, CI/CD).
• Understanding of data warehousing principles and modern data architecture.
Why Join Us?
• Collaborate with high-caliber professionals in a fast-moving, intellectually stimulating setting.
• Work on impactful data problems with real business consequences.
• Contribute to the design and evolution of a modern data platform.
