Under supervision, performs the sale, collection, receipt, counting, and reconciliation of transit fares, using mathematical calculations and various pieces of machinery and equipment. Performs other related duties as required.
Examples of Important and Essential Duties
According to Civil Service Commission Rule 409, the duties specified below are representative of the range of duties assigned to this job code/class and are not intended to be an inclusive list.
1. Collects fares from revenue sources, (coaches, subway stations, etc.) using a variety of equipment.
2. Sells fare media and other transit materials to patrons using electronic sales systems.
3.Counts, packages, distributes and delivers fare media and other transit materials to vendors and Divisions; collects and reconciles revenue from sales made by vendors.
4. Counts/sorts coins and currency collected from various locations, using sorting machines; reconciles and balances cash collected from daily revenue and sale of various transit materials, using 10-key adding machines, basic computer data entry and/or currency counters.
5. Collects and provides data related to fare collections and inventory to assist in the preparation of reports, audits, and analyses.
6. Drives/operates various vehicles, such as vans, trucks, and forklifts for the transportation of transit materials and revenues collected.
7. Inspects, cleans, uses and maintains equipment related to the collection and processing of fares.
8. Receives, intakes, labels and inventories lost and found items in order to match items to owners and transfer items to Customer Service Center; disposes of unmatched items.
9. Provides customer service to members of the public in an effort to effectively communicate information regarding fare media sales, lost and found items, and other miscellaneous SFMTA information.
10. Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
