The GNS team builds and operates the next generation of distributed cloud platforms that span Apple’s private cloud and leading third-party cloud providers such as AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). We are seeking an experienced Distributed Cloud Network Solution Architect to help design, validate, and deploy high-performance, scalable, and secure networking solutions across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
Description
In this role, you will work at the intersection of networking, cloud infrastructure, and large-scale distributed systems, partnering with internal engineering teams and strategic cloud providers to bring advanced workloads—including AI/ML and data-intensive services—into production.
Responsibilities
• Architect and validate distributed cloud networking solutions spanning Apple’s private infrastructure and third-party clouds (AWS, GCP).
• Contribute to the design and enhancement of orchestration software which implements network architecture using Infrastructure as Code.
• Partner with cloud providers and internal platform teams to design high-performance, low-latency network architectures for AI/ML, analytics, and large-scale services.
• Lead proof-of-concepts (POCs) and pilots for multi-cloud and hybrid cloud networking designs, addressing real-world scalability, reliability, and security requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and product teams to translate business and application needs into end-to-end network designs.
• Conduct deep-dive technical sessions, architecture reviews, and troubleshooting engagements focused on network performance, resiliency, and observability.
• Author clear technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and design proposals to support executive and engineering decision-making.
Minimum Qualifications
• Strong customer- and partner-facing skills with the ability to lead complex technical discussions.
• Deep understanding of third party cloud networking, including:
• VPC connectivity technologies, Cloud security
• Load balancing, DNS, and service connectivity
• Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and debugging Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in fast-paced environments.
Preferred Qualifications
• Deep understanding of container networking technologies in third party clouds (EKS, GKE)
• Strong understanding of data-center and backbone (WAN) networking architectures, including routing, switching, and traffic engineering
• Solid knowledge of cloud network security, including network segmentation, firewalling, and secure connectivity between on-prem and cloud environments.
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $212,000 and $318,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
