Location: Rochester, New York Base Salary: $120,000 – $140,000 Industry: Aerospace / Aviation / Defense Job Category: Engineering – Electrical Job Type: Full Time Schedule: Work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked – every other Friday off Join a dynamic team in the aerospace sector as a Digital Hardware Engineer, where you'll take ownership of the full hardware lifecycle—from conceptualizing high-level requirements to seeing your designs move through manufacturing and into the field. Tasks Key Responsibilities: • High-Speed Digital Protocols: Demonstrate comprehensive technical knowledge of embedded microprocessor design and integration for ARM Cores, DDR memory interfaces, and high-bandwidth USB and Ethernet. • Design Simulation & Analysis: Utilize simulation tools such as LTSpice for circuitry, HyperLynx for signal integrity, and MATLAB for system-level modeling. • Advanced Architecture & PCB Design: Lead the full design cycle, including requirement analysis, schematic capture (using Mentor VX/Designer), and complex high-speed layout analysis. • Verification & Validation (V&V): Execute subsystem and system-level test plans, using lab equipment like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers to identify and resolve critical hardware defects. • Compliance & Reliability Engineering: Design for MIL-STD-461 (EMI/EMC) and adhere to IPC standards to ensure hardware survivability in high-reliability environments. • Security Clearance Eligibility: Ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance. Requirements Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in electrical/computer engineering or a related field. • 6+ years of relevant experience (4+ years with a master’s degree). Preferred Additional Skills: • Familiarity with SDR architectures, embedded SW/VHDL, and configuration management tools like Agile. • Nuanced understanding of Software Defined Radio (SDR) architectures and interactions between digital boards and RF circuitry. • Experience using embedded software, scripting (e.g., Python), or VHDL to automate design analysis and facilitate rapid troubleshooting. • Proficiency with Agile PLM software to manage product data and streamline manufacturing introduction. • Familiarity with Boundary Scan tools (JTAG) for testing high-density PCBAs where physical probe access is limited.
