The position centers on building and operating a scalable Snowflake platform on AWS, with responsibility for system design, performance tuning, cost management, and dependable 24x7 operations in partnership with engineering teams. Responsibilities • Design and operate a secure, multi-environment Snowflake platform on AWS, including account, region, and network strategy. • Drive performance and cost efficiency through smart warehouse configuration, scaling policies, workload isolation, and usage monitoring. • Improve query speed and data layout using clustering, micro-partitioning, Search Optimization, Dynamic Tables, and materialized views. • Apply modern table and storage patterns, including transient and external/Iceberg tables, plus zero-copy cloning for development workflows. • Establish strong security and governance using RBAC, masking and row policies, object tagging, SSO/OAuth, PrivateLink, and KMS. • Build observability and alerting with Snowflake system views and cloud-native tools; define and track SLAs/SLOs. • Implement resilience and recovery capabilities such as Time Travel, cross-region replication, and failover. Qualifications • 5+ years in database or data engineering, with 3+ years operating Snowflake in production environments. • Deep experience tuning Snowflake workloads and managing consumption at scale. • Hands-on AWS expertise (S3, IAM/KMS, VPC/PrivateLink, CloudWatch). • Advanced SQL and Python skills; Snowpark experience is a plus. • Experience with automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Git). • Strong analytical skills, clear communication, and thorough documentation habits. Preferred • Experience with Snowflake Cortex AI or Unistore/Hybrid Tables. • Familiarity with External/Iceberg tables and data sharing. • Exposure to dbt, Airflow, or Fivetran. • Cross-region DR implementations; Snowflake or AWS certifications.
