Job Description
We are seeking a highly professional and vigilant Court Security Officer to join our team in Montreal, Quebec. As a Court Security Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining a secure and orderly environment within court facilities, ensuring the safety of judges, legal personnel, visitors, and inmates. This role requires exceptional observation skills, the ability to respond effectively to critical incidents, and a strong commitment to upholding justice and security protocols.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct security screenings of individuals entering court facilities using various detection equipment.
• Monitor security cameras and alarm systems, responding to any alerts or suspicious activities.
• Maintain order and decorum in courtrooms and public areas, enforcing rules and regulations.
• Escort judges, juries, witnesses, and inmates as required, ensuring their safe movement.
• Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, disturbances, or security breaches.
• Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate logs of daily activities.
• Provide assistance and direction to visitors, ensuring a positive experience while maintaining security.
• Collaborate with law enforcement and court staff to address security concerns and operational needs.
• Perform regular patrols of court premises to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
Required Skills
• Valid Security Guard License for Quebec.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal (French and English preferred).
• Proven ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in using security equipment (e.g., metal detectors, x-ray scanners).
• Physical fitness to perform duties including standing for long periods, walking, and potential emergency response.
Preferred Qualifications
• Post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., Criminology, Police Foundations).
• Experience specifically in court or institutional security.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Knowledge of relevant legal frameworks and court procedures.
• Proficiency in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
