Cloud Infrastructure Lead
Position Summary
An established organization is seeking a seasoned Cloud Infrastructure Lead to guide its cloud strategy and operational excellence. This role requires deep expertise with Azure, strong leadership across cross-functional initiatives, and the ability to architect resilient, secure, and scalable cloud environments. The Cloud Infrastructure Lead will be a key contributor in ensuring the reliability, performance, and integrity of all cloud-hosted systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Architect and deliver cloud infrastructure solutions aligned with business and technology needs, leveraging Azure PaaS and IaaS capabilities.
• Deploy, configure, and support Azure services, including AKS clusters, Managed SQL Instances, Virtual Machines, Key Vaults, and Logic Apps.
• Build and maintain observability frameworks, including monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure proactive visibility into application and infrastructure health.
• Administer Microsoft Entra ID, including Application Registrations, Enterprise Applications, and Managed Identities to support secure identity and access control.
• Implement and maintain cloud security and networking components such as Azure Firewall, Azure Front Door, Application Gateway, and Network Security Groups.
• Drive automation through Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform or Bicep for provisioning and configuration management.
• Lead multi-team efforts to evaluate cloud architectures, adopt new technologies, and improve disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities.
• Oversee incident response activities, ensuring timely communication, root cause analysis, and resolution.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and strategic guidance to engineering teams.
• Define and maintain cloud governance practices while optimizing usage and cost efficiency.
• Monitor and address security alerts, remediate vulnerabilities, and manage cloud security posture.
• Develop and maintain up-to-date architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and operational procedures.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and perform after-hours maintenance and support as needed.
• Ensure the environment adheres to relevant compliance standards and regulatory requirements.
• Perform additional duties as necessary to support cloud operations and strategy.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 10+ years of experience in Information Technology.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Azure Cloud services, with emphasis on AKS, Managed SQL Instances, and other PaaS offerings.
• Strong knowledge of network and security architecture, including Azure private networking, Azure Front Door, Application Gateway, and Azure Firewall.
• Experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep) as well as scripting, particularly PowerShell.
• Solid understanding of Identity and Access Management and practical experience with Microsoft Entra ID.
• Experience developing and managing backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
• Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional technical initiatives.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure best practices and awareness of emerging trends and technologies.
• Strong leadership presence with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 administration and Cisco Meraki networking is a plus.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, CCNA) are beneficial.
