Our client – Trade media group, is now looking for Data Engineer within their team.
The Data Engineer is a professional role. Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and work-flow for the area or function. Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. Evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Excellent communication and diplomacy skills are required. Work and performance of all teams in the area are directly affected by the performance of the individual.
Key Responsibilities:
• Incumbents work with large and complex data sets (both internal and external data) to evaluate, recommend, and support the implementation of business strategies
• Identifies and compiles data sets using a variety of tools (e.g. SQL, Python, VBA, Access) to help predict, improve, and measure the success of key business to business outcomes
• Responsible for documenting data requirements, data collection / processing / cleaning, and exploratory data analysis; which may include utilizing statistical models / algorithms and data visualization techniques
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
• Drive automation across various platform / application using Python / RPA / equivalent tools to increase the team productivity/efficiency.
• Build processes and policies supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and data dictionary across the pipeline
• Convert SAS based pipelines into languages like Python to execute on Hadoop and non-Hadoop ecosystems
• Ability to research and assess open source technologies and components to recommend and integrate into the design and implementation
Person Specification
Knowledge/Experience:
• 1 - 2 years relevant experience
• Experienced in working with large and multiple datasets, data warehouses and ability to pull data using relevant programs and coding.
• Knowledge of data management, data governance, data security and regulatory practices is a plus
• Knowledge of agile(scrum) development methodology is a plus
Skills: (technical skills)
• Experience of SAS, SQL or equivalent programming syntax is essential
• Well versed with necessary data preprocessing and application engineering skills
• Strong development/automation skills
• Experience in Python, hand-on experience on using Python on automation and/or big data/machine learning/advance analytics
• Experience on visualization tool like Tableau is a plus
Qualifications: (degree/certifications)
• Bachelors/University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Business Analytics, Statistics or equivalent experience
