Our client, an engineering and professional services firm, is looking to hire a Systems Designer to support rail and transit projects. Your role will support design compliance, traceability, and alignment across all project teams and design activities. You will contribute to Requirements Analysis, Decomposition, Traceability, and ensure appropriate allocation of Requirements to responsible design teams. Developing a thorough understanding of the project requirements as they relate to scope, cost, and schedule is crucial. You will ensure changes to the Project Agreement and all associated documentation are captured and referenced in line with the Change Management process.
Responsibilities
• Administer requirements repository using IBM software and maintain configuration control.
• Ensure synchronization with external systems and design activities for design compliance.
• Contribute to Requirements Analysis, Decomposition, and Traceability.
• Allocate requirements appropriately to responsible design teams.
• Develop a thorough understanding of project requirements relating to scope, cost, and schedule.
• Capture and reference changes in documentation in line with Change Management processes.
Essential Skills
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in systems, electrical, or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in transit or safety-critical industry.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Systems Engineering domain.
• Strong knowledge of Systems Engineering processes and principles.
• Proficient understanding of the V-Model and systems engineering.
• Experience with Requirements Management tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
• P.Eng is an assett.
• INCOSE Certification is an asset.
• Basic knowledge of civil, structural, track, mechanical, and electrical design for railway construction.
• Familiarity with signaling, SCADA, Communications, Traction Power Design, and Overhead Catenary Systems.
• Familiarity with Metrolinx Design Standards and Design Manuals.
• Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio.
• Fluent communication, presentation, and report writing skills.
