Application Engineer -Automated Optical Inspection Systems Omron Inspection Systems Division is looking for an energetic Application Engineer based at its Americas headquarters in the Chicago, Illinois area. The Application Engineer will have a focused support in automated optical inspection (AOI). Responsibilities: • Maintain extensive knowledge of the Omron AOI portfolio (as in-house expert) • Maintain expert level knowledge of Omron AOI programming • Assist customers with equipment decisions, questions & technical discussions • Assist sales-team with AOI demos & evaluations (technical sales role) • Assist sales-team with specific sales strategies & marketing activities • Assist sales-team with industry trade-show activities • Perform equipment installation, service, support & calibration activities • Provide remote, phone and on-site customer support • Train customers and team members on all AOI-related topics • Assist with the design and implementation of AOI training materials • Cross-train on other Omron inspection solution products • Perform any other activities assigned by engineering supervisor • Represents the Omron Guiding Principles through personal and business interactions with employees, customers, distributors, and colleagues • Represent Omron in a professional, ethical, and socially responsible manner Requirements: • 4 year B.S. degree in an engineering or technically similar discipline • 4+ years of SMT-manufacturing related experience • Capital equipment support experience and strong trouble-shooting skills • Ability to read basic electrical schematics • Effective project planning skills and experience • Effective time management skills • Windows PC and Windows Server, networking, domain & security support experience • PC & server hardware build experience • MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Power Point) • Strong verbal and written communication skills (desire to work in a customer-facing role) • Ability to learn new concepts quickly and eager to impress • Ability to work independently or as part of a group project • Energetic, self-starting and motivated personality • Personable & professional attitude (presents well in front of customers) • Willingness to work irregular schedules / hours • Willingness to travel (up to) 50-75% • Bilingual: Spanish or Japanese language aptitude (a strong plus) • Computer coding skills (a strong plus) • AutoCAD or similar skills (a strong plus) The Company: • ******2014-2015 National Best and Brightest Company to Work For! • ******2013-2016 Winner for one of the 75 Best Places to Work in Illinois! • ******2011-2016 Winner for one of the 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in Chicago! The annual wage range for this role is$95,000 - $110,000a year;however, base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. This position is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus program.Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
