Application Architect – Azure Cloud Migration

Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Application Architect with strong Microsoft Azure expertise to support the migration of enterprise applications from an on‑premise data centre to Azure cloud. This role sits within a cloud adoption programme and requires hands-on architectural leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess on‑prem applications and define Azure migration strategies (re-host, re-platform, re-factor)
- Design target-state Azure application architectures and migration approaches
- Produce architecture artefacts (HLDs, LLDs, diagrams, runbooks)
- Support application migration waves and resolve architecture issues
- Ensure scalability, resilience, performance, and security best practices
- Collaborate with DevOps, infrastructure, and security teams
Azure & Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure
- Azure App Services, VMs, AKS, Azure SQL, Storage, Networking
- Azure Entra ID (Azure AD) and security fundamentals
- Application modernisation and integration patterns
- CI/CD concepts (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions)
- Containers (Docker, AKS) – preferred
Required Experience
- Proven experience as an Application Architect or Solution Architect (Contract)
- Strong track record of on‑premise to Azure application migrations
- Experience working within enterprise cloud adoption programmes
- Ability to work independently in a delivery-focused contract role
Desirable
- Azure certifications (AZ‑305, AZ‑104 or similar)
- Experience with Azure Landing Zones and governance
- FinOps or cloud cost optimisation exposure
