Position Overview We’re hiring a full-time Engineering Manager, Machine Learning to join the Los Angeles team with hybrid work flexibility. The company is redefining digital expression through cutting-edge AI avatars and game technologies to power immersive, UGC-driven virtual experiences. Its mission is simple but ambitious: empower anyone to create anything and ensure everything works seamlessly together. In this role, you will lead a skilled group of ML engineers working on expressive, high-performance AI avatars—from concept to production—driving innovation across our ML stack by integrating generative AI with interactive and graphical systems. This position is perfect for someone passionate about building at the intersection of creativity and AI in the metaverse. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Key Responsibilities • Lead the development of core ML systems behind next-gen avatars • Support and mentor a high-impact ML engineering team • Align cross-disciplinary efforts between product, design, and graphics • Shape and prioritize the machine learning roadmap • Foster a team culture that emphasizes creativity, iteration, and engineering excellence • Drive model development for lifelike AI avatars • Guide engineers through technical and professional growth • Define system goals and ensure smooth integration with adjacent tech stacks • Encourage innovation through hands-on support and strategic guidance • Balance execution, innovation, and team wellbeing Required Qualifications • 8+ years working in machine learning or closely related disciplines • 2+ years managing technical teams or leading engineering initiatives • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related area • Proven track record of deploying machine learning models into production • Expertise in ML models for 3D graphics, including mesh manipulation, texture generation, and rendering workflows • Solid grasp of generative AI techniques such as Diffusion, VAEs, GANs, and NeRF • Experience with natural language and large language models (LLMs) • Familiarity with game engines like Unity or Unreal for real-time rendering • Strong C++ or CUDA skills for optimizing ML-heavy rendering pipelines Preferred Qualifications • Experience with OpenUSD, Houdini, or shader programming • Background in avatar creation, creative tools, or social gaming ecosystems • Familiarity with content generation pipelines and UGC interoperability • Exposure to platforms that support expressive, user-driven game development • Insight into scalable ML infrastructure optimized for interactive environments Benefits & Perks • Competitive Compensation with equity opportunities • Long-term, full-time position contributing to an industry-defining product • Medical, dental, and vision coverage • Equity grants with upside potential
