We are looking for a seasoned Linux Systems Administrator with a strong background in automation, cloud infrastructure, and system security. In this contract role, you will play a critical part in deploying, maintaining, and optimizing our Linux-based environments across on-premises and AWS cloud platforms. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in Ansible, AWS services, vulnerability management, and RHEL system upgrades, with a proactive approach to troubleshooting and system reliability.
Key Responsibilities
• Deploy, configure, and manage Linux servers across physical, virtual, and AWS environments
• Automate provisioning and configuration using Ansible and related tools
• Plan and execute system patches, upgrades, and in-place RHEL migrations
• Design and maintain AWS infrastructure with a focus on scalability, security, and cost-efficiency
• Administer AWS services including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, and others
• Perform vulnerability assessments and implement remediation strategies
• Review and act on vulnerability scan reports (e.g., from Qualys, CrowdStrike)
• Manage content views and lifecycle environments in Red Hat Satellite
• Utilize ServiceNow and JIRA for incident, change, and workflow management
• Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity; implement proactive measures
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex Linux system and application issues
• Enforce security best practices and ensure compliance with internal policies
• Maintain detailed documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures
• Participate in an on-call rotation for critical support
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure initiatives and improvements
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
• Proficiency in server deployment, configuration management, and patching
• Strong troubleshooting skills for Linux systems and applications
• Experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure management
• Expertise in Ansible or similar automation/configuration tools
• Familiarity with vulnerability management tools and remediation practices
• Experience with ServiceNow for ITSM processes
• Understanding of virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, KVM)
• Solid grasp of networking fundamentals and security principles
• Scripting skills in Bash, Python, or similar languages
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities
Preferred Qualifications
• AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator)
• Linux certifications (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE, LPIC)
• Experience with security frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS)
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g., LogicMonitor, Splunk, Nagios, CloudWatch)
• Experience designing high-availability solutions across AWS regions
• Proficiency in managing Red Hat Satellite content views and lifecycle environments
