Energy Solutions (ES) is currently seeking a full-time Junior Data Engineer I. The Junior Data Engineer role is part of the Information Systems team and will work on critical projects such as IRIS and the new ERP system. The IRIS project is one of ES's strategic goals to build and maintain a system that enables ES to centralize, integrate, and analyze internal data from various sources. The goal is to provide a single source of truth for ES internal data and enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. This is a hybrid work opportunity, requiring onsite presence at one of the offices a minimum of 1 day/week (currently Wednesdays) with flexibility for the remainder of the days. Responsibilities include collaborating with stakeholders to understand data requirements and develop data-driven solutions, analyzing data sources and pipelines, designing and implementing scalable data pipelines, ETL processes, and data integration solutions using Python, SQL, and AWS technologies, developing and maintaining a data warehouse, building schema, populating the database, automating reporting, documenting and maintaining technical specifications, ETL processes, data mappings, and dictionaries, and supporting the Data Science Center of Excellence (DSCOE) with other data engineering needs. Minimum qualifications include a BS/BA in Computer Science, Physics/Engineering, Business or Mathematics, experience in building ETL data pipelines, strong programming skills in Python and SQL, minimum 2 years of data warehouse development and dimensional data modeling, experience creating SQL queries and ETL design, implementation, and maintenance, experience developing data pipelines using Python, experience with AWS and related services, ability to aggregate and analyze data from disparate datasets, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently. Preferred qualifications include ability to communicate data warehouse plans to non-technical audiences, expertise in cloud services architecting and secure AWS environments, experience with BI tools like Tableau and Looker, experience troubleshooting data quality issues, self-driven and motivated, familiarity with large data sets and cloud-based development, and success in migrating data from legacy systems. Compensation is commensurate with experience with a pay band of $90k - $110k annually and includes a generous retirement package and benefits.
