We are seeking a qualified Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) to support the Resident Engineer in managing daily construction supervision on Roads and Infrastructure Projects. The successful candidate will oversee specific site activities, verify contractor compliance, coordinate with inspectors, and assist with documentation, reporting, and quality assurance. Key Responsibilities • Support the Resident Engineer in day-to-day site supervision activities related to roadworks, drainage, utilities, or structural components. • Coordinate with site inspectors to monitor contractor activities and ensure compliance with approved drawings, method statements, and specifications. • Review shop drawings, RFIs, ITPs, and material submittals for assigned disciplines. • Assist in preparing daily reports, maintaining site records, and tracking progress and quality observations. • Monitor progress against the contractor's programme and escalate issues related to slippages or non-conformances. • Participate in technical and progress meetings with the contractor and report issues to the RE. • Ensure that all inspection and testing activities are conducted as per the QA/QC plan. • Liaise with stakeholders and other engineering disciplines on-site to resolve coordination issues. • Monitor and report on safety compliance in coordination with HSE staff. Requirements • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant discipline from a WHED-listed university. • Minimum 10 years total experience, with at least 5 in site supervision of roads and infrastructure projects. • Chartered/Professional Engineer (preferred)- UPDA Grade A. • Excellent command of English (spoken and written). • Familiar with document management systems, MS Office, AutoCAD (viewing), and site-related software. Competencies • Solid knowledge of roads, utilities, drainage, or civil works specifications. • Ability to coordinate field activities and manage technical inspection teams. • Strong reporting, documentation, and communication skills. • Practical understanding of QA/QC and HSE procedures. • Proactive problem-solving approach with attention to detail. • Ability to work effectively under the direction of the Resident Engineer.
