VP Java Quant Engineer – Market Connectivity
Location: New York (Hybrid)
Compensation: $165,000–$200,000 base + performance bonus
Overview:
Our client, a global financial institution, is seeking a highly skilled Java Engineer to join their Market Connectivity team in New York. This is a VP-level role focused on designing and delivering low-latency, high-performance systems that connect to global electronic trading venues.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, build, and maintain low-latency market connectivity solutions
• Collaborate closely with trading, operations, and infrastructure teams to deliver robust and scalable systems
• Manage direct connectivity to global exchanges and ECNs (e.g. FIX, OUCH, binary protocols)
• Contribute to the buildout of co-location and proximity hosting strategies
• Support latency measurement, tuning, and optimization across the tech stack
Requirements:
• 8–12 years of Java development experience within financial services
• Deep understanding of low-latency system design and multithreaded architecture
• Strong experience with exchange connectivity, protocol decoding, and networking fundamentals
• Solid understanding of market microstructure, order lifecycle, and market data
• Experience working in performance-critical environments, ideally front-office
