Job Description:
Proven experience in distribution and transmission network expansion planning (13.8 k V–380 k V), including long‑term master plans and capacity reinforcement strategies.
Strong capability in load forecasting, demand growth modelling, and scenario planning.
Proficient in load flow, short‑circuit, N‑1 contingency, voltage and stability studies.
Advanced skills in network modelling using ETAP, DIg SILENT, PSCAD or PSS/E.
Experience preparing system impact studies, customer connection assessments, and defining optimal points of connection.
Solid background in substation planning: transformer sizing, busbar configuration, breaker requirements, and future expansion provisions.
Strong competence in cable/overhead line planning: sizing, ampacity, trench utilisation, route optimisation, and loss evaluations.
Knowledge of DER integration: PV/BESS hosting capacity, reverse power flow assessments and protection coordination implications.
Familiarity with utility planning standards (IEEE/IEC) and local regulations such as SERA and Mo E.
Practical experience in a regulated utility environment, coordinating with operations, protection, asset management and customer teams.
Ability to perform techno‑economic evaluations, CAPEX optimisation, and cost‑reliability trade‑offs for expansion options.
Strong reporting skills: planning studies, feasibility reports, investment proposals, and management presentations.
Ability to communicate effectively with customers, EPCs, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications & Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
10+ years of experience in utility or consultancy roles focused on power systems planning.
