Job Description
Position Summary :
SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is currently seeking a highly skilled Cloud Architect/Engineer preferably with extensive experience in Amazon Web Services (AWS). In this role, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing our cloud infrastructure to support our organization's digital transformation and scalability goals.
Essential Functions
Specific Duties and Responsibilities :
• Design, deploy, and maintain AWS-based cloud solutions that are secure, scalable, and cost-effective.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess business requirements and develop cloud architecture strategies.
• Implement and manage cloud services, including virtual machines, databases, storage, and networking resources.
• Ensure compliance with security best practices and industry standards.
• Optimize and monitor cloud resources to minimize costs while maintaining performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve cloud-related issues and incidents.
• Experience in creating AWS solution offerings roadmap for the organization.
• Stay updated on AWS services and technologies, recommending and implementing new solutions as appropriate.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members on cloud architecture and best practices.
• Ensures product roadmap aligns with the company's platforms, both on-premise and cloud.
Requirements
Qualifications:
• Proven experience as a Cloud Architect/Engineer with a focus on AWS.AWS certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, are highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and VPC.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IAC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Required Education
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field or or equivalent work experience.
