As a OT network engineer in our OT practice, you will work at the forefront of contemporary industrial systems to plan, design and secure these systems from beginning through deployment.

As an OT network engineer
, you will be responsible for overall leadership in designing, implementing, and maintaining the operational technology (OT) network infrastructure for our clients.
Your role will be critical in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our OT systems. You will partner with Jacobs Industrial Control Systems (ICS) teams to deliver communication networks that are optimized for reliable automation and business operations. In this role, you will also design scalable and reliable network infrastructure in greenfield and brownfield environments. You’ll leverage understanding of network telecommunications, firewalls, Windows environments, and TCP/IP protocols to engineer robust and secure networks of varying sizes and complexity.
From resolving interoperability issues across platforms, to supporting the acquisition of hardware, you’ll put your hardware and software talents to good use at Jacobs.
Responsibilities
• This position designs, installs and maintains networking and infrastructure in support of control systems in accordance with company standards and works with OT Network Management to provide solutions for maintenance and operations. This includes but is not limited to Process Control Infrastructure and Third Party Vendor Packages
• Create and maintain detailed network diagrams of the manufacturing industrial infrastructure, network, server, cabling, rack level, and logical architecture including procedures and plans to support current and future projects.
• Procure equipment per project requirements
• Travel to project sites to provide support of ICS networks, manage and maintain converged platforms, virtualization, networks, security platforms and various other OT/IoT technologies
• Review network architectures and determine if best practices are being followed and provide recommendations to comply with applicable cybersecurity framework for industrial environment controls
Qualifications
• 5+ years of networking technology knowledge (TCP/IP, routing & switching)
• 5+ years of engineering‑related support of OT environments, industrial control systems (DCS/PLC), or SCADA
• Experience working with firewalls, routers, switches and wireless communication technology
• Experience working with servers, virtualization platforms, Active Directory, DNS, and Domain Controllers
• Cisco CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet NSE‑4, JNCIA or equivalent network certification
• Familiarity with IEC‑62443, NIST 800‑53 and 800‑82 or other industrial cybersecurity standards is a plus
• Knowledge of the Purdue Enterprise Reference Architecture
Preferred
• Experience with IIoT and edge computing
Travel
• Expect 15‑20% travel to client sites
