Contract Role: Data Scientist - Pricing, Promotions & Experimentation
Rate: £550-£600 per day (Inside IR35)
Location: Hybrid - 1 day per week onsite
Duration: 3 months initially
Overview
A premier organisation in the Online Marketplace sector is on the lookout for a detail-oriented Data Scientist to enhance pricing strategies, improve promotional effectiveness, and implement cutting-edge experimentation methods. This role is pivotal in delivering commercial value through insightful data analysis, comprehensive modelling, and effective experimentation frameworks that empower strategic business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
• Promotional Analysis & Strategy:
• Conduct thorough analyses of promotional activities to identify trends and performance drivers while spotting opportunities for enhancement.
• Create and evaluate data-driven promotional strategies that increase customer engagement, boost operational efficiency, and drive commercial growth.
• Assess promotional effectiveness, report on campaign outcomes, and offer recommendations for optimisation.
• Pricing Optimisation:
• Develop and optimise pricing models to achieve revenue growth, enhance profitability, and maintain competitive positioning across products and customer demographics.
• Utilise scenario modelling to evaluate the financial effects of pricing decisions and suggest optimal strategies.
Required Skills & Experience
• Extensive expertise in data analysis and applied statistical techniques (including regression and hypothesis testing).
• Demonstrated ability to leverage data for tangible commercial outcomes such as revenue growth, margin improvement, or market share expansion.
• Practical knowledge of pricing optimisation methodologies and experimentation frameworks (such as elasticity modelling and A/B testing).
• Capability to dissect complex analytical challenges, convert insights into actionable recommendations, and influence decision-making across diverse teams.
• Proficient in SQL, Python, R, or equivalent analytical tools.
