Job Summary
Production Operator Summer Intern experience real-life projects with hands-on participation in Murphy's core businesses during the 12-week summer internship (two weeks within the Field of our Eagleford (EFS) Asset & the other ten weeks within Murphy's Onshore Remote Operations Center). They will work with a mentor and a group of other professionals to make recommendations for further activities related to operations, in the field and/or in the office. Interns will have the opportunity to interact with other interns and Murphy professionals working on a variety of projects to learn about all aspects of the industry.
Duties & Responsibilities (Field)
• Perform all duties, under Mentor direction, necessary to maintain target production rates from lease oil & gas wells by demonstrating industry or Murphy approved practices & procedures
• Understand current standard operating procedures
• Ensures safe work practices are followed at facility & well locations, including (but not limited to) conformance to the Permit to Work program (PTW), utilization of a Job Site analysis (JSA), LOTO, and exercising the Stop Work Authority when necessary
• Execute SAP work orders & IOP tasks in an efficient manner
• Request Maintenance work by utilizing SAP notification system
• Monitor & perform necessary repairs to chemical injection equipment
• Learn about troubleshooting procedures, along with the ability to communicate equipment specific design parameters & how they relate to overall facility performance, to obtain maximum efficiency & ensure proper maintenance
• Learn about maintaining all lease records necessary for production accounting, regulatory compliance, personnel safety, equipment maintenance and material movements
• Monitor, record, and witness custody transfer of hydrocarbons to sales, and verify all necessary information pertaining to the transfer. Controls and monitors all facility activities and communicates and dispatches urgent matters as needed
Duties & Responsibilities (Houston)
• Main point of contact between field personnel, management, safety, environmental, first responders, and engineering; ensuring safe, uninterrupted, and optimized business operations.
• Production performance monitoring & production process optimization
• Real-time monitoring & dispatch of appropriate responses to field alarms while effectively evaluating & analyzing the root cause
• Coordinates responses for the Field Operations execution team, responding to inquiries, field support requirements, safety, and production events
• Analyzes, interprets, and validates Production Variance Reporting on field data including downtime coding, fuel flare venting, and fluid inventories
• Maintains an intricate online production database
• Builds collaborative relationships and actively engages with internal stakeholders, including Production Accounting, Engineering, Marketing and HSE, for the purpose of analyzing daily/weekly outputs against plans
Qualifications/Requirements
• Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Data Analytics, or Process Technology skills from an accredited 4-year institution
• Strong workflow and process orientation
• Microsoft skills and computer function (++coding capability, dashboarding, data analysis)
• Minimum twelve (12) continuous weeks' availability for internship
• The successful candidate for this role must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future (e.g., F1).
Physical requirements of field activities typically include standing, stooping, walking, climbing, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and wearing various personal protective equipment (PPE) in extreme variations of temperature year-round. Office-based activities typically include long periods of focus on computer monitor screens, attending various meetings, and collaborative interactions. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential, physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
