The TEKsystems Team supports the United States Navy in their goal of providing reliable and secure information services to their shore-based networks. TEKsystems has an opening for Communications Network Engineer, Mid to support the Team, in providing IT Services
Qualifications:
• Secret Security Clearance is required
• CompTIA Security+ AND CCNA are required
• Knowledgeable engineer in the field of Ethernet and IP data engineering with 4 plus years’ experience as a Network Technician.
• Position requires a high level of project coordination skills to manage the execution of maintenance activities and network outages.
• Fundamental understanding of the OSI Model is required.
• Experience must include operational support, and configuration of network devices such as servers, routers, switches, associated software tools, and cabling in a large LAN/MAN/BAN/WAN environment.
• Knowledge of network protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP is a Plus.
• Knowledge and experience working with wireless technologies, Virtual Private Networks (VPN), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), and WAN Accelerators and associated technologies is highly desirable.
• You will be part of a Team of Network Technicians and Engineers.
Overview of Duties:
• Provide network technical advice and assistance during the planning phase of a deployment or exercise and coordinate swift solutions to networking problems during the execution phase.
• Provide direct computer and network support to include router, firewall, Intrusion Detection Systems/Intrusion Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), Domain Name System (DNS), Active Directory (AD) and Exchange, configuration, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Troubleshoot outages and resolve network related issues
• Support operational requirements for the operational environment; identify required Hardware (HW) and Software (SW)
• Coordinate return of any unused and reusable equipment to stock; coordinate the transportation of all HW and SW required to support contingency operations and obtain all import permits.
• Expected to understand, implement, and follow processes in accordance with current policies and procedures. Performed escalation and additional tasks as directed.
• Investigated, resolved, documented, and reported the cause and corrective actions in the Incident Management System for all incidents assigned by the Service Desk.
