About the job Boolean is looking for experienced software developers to teach coding to highly motivated students who are looking to start a new career. This position is fully remote, with full-time and part-time (morning) options available. Candidates from all locations are invited to apply, provided they are willing to work during UK working hours, roughly 9 AM to 6 PM. Contract type • Full-time (8 hours/day) or part-time (4 hours/day) • Freelance / Contractor • Duration: 6 months, rolling contract • Salary (morning lessons): £34 - £42 per hour • Salary (afternoon tutoring, if working full time): £30 - £34 per hour Who we are Boolean is an online academy that helps passionate people become software engineers. We take people with lots of potential and turn them into quality developers through our intensive, full-time courses. We've taken the best of classroom teaching (1:1 support, pair and group work, sense of community) and we've fused it with online lessons. In this way we've been able to create an intensive full-time course with live teaching that students can follow from the comfort of their homes. What do Teachers do? The main activities are divided into: • Morning: run sessions for classes of students that typically have 25~ participants. Sessions include live code reviews of exercises, introducing new concepts, live demos, and assigning practical work • Afternoon: support and tutor students while they complete their daily exercises. This means answering questions live and/or via chat, as well as making sure the students are progressing smoothly through the material Teachers also continuously improve the content, working on developing and updating the materials such as exercises, lessons, and documentation. The work doesn't stop with teaching coding: Teachers help students understand the DNA of a developer, injecting them with a thirst for knowledge, a problem-solver mindset, and a healthy dose of geekiness. This role is for you if • You like writing code and you've always thought you'd be good at making other people passionate about coding • You love sharing your skills and knowledge • You have the patience and empathy to pass on your passion to other people • You've got good (3+ years) practical experience with JavaScript, React, and Express. You might not have worked on big projects in all of these, but you know how to solve any problem you come across • You are eloquent and fluent in English, you also enjoy teaching live to a small crowd • You can commit to work in the UK timezone, and have access to a good quality internet connection, camera, and microphone Interview process • Application review • First interview (non-technical, 30 minutes), with the Head of Teaching; get to know each other and validate fit • Second interview (technical, 1 hour), with the teaching team • Offer and negotiation • Total expected time to hire: a few days to a couple of weeks Location • Remote (Global
