Job Title: Senior Product Engineer
Irvine, CA: Prefer a hybrid role with availability to travel to Irvine ca at least 2 times a week but we are open to remote if highly qualified
Purpose:
• Digital Science within Clinical Innovation is an ambitious team of Data Scientists, Data/ML Engineers, 3D modelers, statisticians and UX/UI experts with a unique blend of Business, Scientific, and Machine Learning expertise that seeks to unleash the full potential of client’s unstructured data assets by bringing technology and/or Models and insights to the forefront of decision making via fit-for-purpose tools, products or models. Of these at the forefront is our product Aptios a one stop shop for all the tools needed in the clinical development process.
• The Senior Product Engineer will lead Data/ML engineers and is a key technical leadership role to enable, recommend and code best recommendation for current application, upkeep, maintain and improve product through standardized release.
• Influences Data strategy and technology strategy in support of advanced product vision.
• Establishes standards and best practices to ensure consistency.
• Accountable for gathering cross-functional input.
• Identifies opportunities for automation to scale advanced analytics capabilities like Machine Learning and Artificial intelligence.
• Stays abreast of industry trends and identifies new opportunities and value propositions.
Responsibilities:
• Take ownership of aptios product from engineering standpoint, maintain and improve on current products Cloud infrastructure and design leveraging mainly as cloud source AWS. With some automation sitting in Azure devops. ( Current aptios product leverages AWS, terraform, view , php and unity)
• Design, build, and deploy updated versions of the product with guidance from the business units.
• Drive the latency, robustness, and scalability, and provide guidance to improve retrieval latency and throughput by making best use of AWS and Machine Learning infrastructure.
• Advise on A/B testing and experimental frameworks. Drive the adoption and building of comprehensive benchmarks to quantify our search quality, gap, and differentiation.
• Lead Engineering team in all aspects of Governance, quality, Devops and more. Current stack used is aws ec2 instances, pytorch and tensorflow models.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Masters degree in statistics, mathematics, analytics, bioinformatics, data science, computer science or equivalent field with 10+ years (BS), 8+ years (MS) or 6+ years (PhD) of Experience with Amazon Web services such as api gateway, cloud front, lambda, sagemaker. Experience with terraform.
• Experience with massive unstructured Data Management, Master Data Management;
• Expereince with Unity, blender, …….
• Experience with large healthcare data systems or clinical development system is a plus.
• Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages, including but not limited to: Java, Python,PHP, View, Scala, C, C++, C#, Swift/Objective C, or JavaScript;
• Familiarity with tensorflow, pytorch models.
• Proven track record of developing products for production-ready recommendation or predictions.
• systems using languages and big data platforms such as Scala, Python, R, Java, Spark, Cassandra, and Hadoop;
• End-to-end experience with data, including querying, aggregation, analysis, and visualization;
• Good communication and presentation skills, being able to explain complex problems and the solutions applied, and comfortable in presenting technical solutions to a nontechnical audience;
• Ability to effectively interact and influence all levels of management in a cross-functional setting;
• Proven leadership traits with ability to lead and inspire staff, and to influence others without direct authority;
• Biotech / Pharma experience is a plus;
