Bring your advanced information technology expertise, technical skills and client services abilities to support the management and troubleshooting of local IT asset environment and support site readiness for the implementation of emerging technologies, such as integrated room audio/video technology; and remote appearance technology in Institutional and Community Correctional Services.
Note: This is an operational, front-line, on-site presence position requiring a high level of engagement with clients and stakeholders in correctional institutions and probation and parole offices. Travel may be required to multiple sites.

What can I expect to do in this role?
As an IT Support Services Technologist, you will:
• perform regular walkabouts to review and be accountable for desktop environment and technology.
• conduct/oversee preliminary studies, feasibility studies and cost benefit analysis for planning and complex moves.
• provide technical expertise and support to justice sector stakeholders, clients and leads in the evaluation, installation, administration, maintenance and operation of hardware, network and software, including customized technology.
• oversee continuous maintenance, monitoring, and testing of systems as primary or backup support to prevent unnecessary downtime by: identifying and performing troubleshooting in relation to overall system performance (hardware/software/network), investigating problem areas and recommending enhancements/improvements, and implementing modifications that will support end users.
• act as the primary regional point of contact for multi-tier support for justice sector technology (virtual and physical) for problem diagnosis/problem management.
• lead root cause analysis and foster a collaborative work environment within JTS, SMB regional field services offices, other branches, I&IT cluster and business stakeholders in problem resolution to minimize business interruptions.
• liaise with third-party hardware, software, and telecommunications vendors for support, repairs, replacement, or modification of systems or services as may be required.
Lindsay (541 Highway 36) Location:
The position in Lindsay is a front-line, on-site position, requiring a high-level of on-site engagement with clients in correctional institutions and probation parole offices.
Toronto (21 College St) Location:
The position in Toronto is a front-line position, based at the corporate office and will have a higher focus on providing technical expertise, insights, and support on readiness activities for the implementations of projects and remote technical support to users and colleagues across the province. This position will also require site visits to correctional institutions and on-site support to multiple sites.
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
• you must have a minimum of a valid driver's license class “G” or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario to travel to remote sites where other modes of transportation are not available.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
• You have technical knowledge of various types of audio/video hardware, computer hardware and peripherals (i.e. corrections / in-court technology, desktops, notebook computers, printers), and peripherals-network topologies, wiring, routers, hubs, local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs).
• You have knowledge of maintenance operations, testing, diagnostic software, data back-up software and recovery procedures.
• You have knowledge of remote administration tools, software and methods.
Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:
• You have problem solving skills to diagnose software/hardware/network conflicts or failures and implement corrective action.
• You have evaluative skills to assess ongoing system performance and provide quality control assurance.
• You have analytical skills to assess requirements and respond to client needs.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
• You have written communication skills to write request for proposals (RFPs) and request for information (RIFs) and prepare documentation on technical requirements as well as training manuals.
• You have interpersonal skills to interview stakeholders and gather information and requirements.
• You have oral communication skills to discuss technical requirements and design elements and related hardware/software issues.
• You have relationship management skills to liaise with third-party hardware, software, and telecommunications vendors.
Project Management and Leadership Skills:
• You have knowledge of project planning methodology and project management skills to direct resources, negotiate priorities and monitor project progress.
• You have leadership skills to provide oversight to the activities of in-court technology and major trial planning.
• You have knowledge of training methods and practices to preparing training outlines and deliver training.
