Role Description
PhD scholarships (https://www.acu.edu.au/research-and-enterprise/higher-degree-research-hub/scholarships) are available to apply for twice a year (in April and October). You will be a PhD candidate in Algorithms, Data Science, AI and Machine Learning/Deep Learning at the North Sydney, NSW campus of Australian Catholic University. You will be affiliated with the ACU's Hilst research lab (https://hilstlab.org/). The candidate will be expected to undertake research, develop and implement algorithms, conduct statistical analyses, and work on data science and AI projects.
A/Prof. Kewen Liao (https://webpublic.acu.edu.au/staffdirectory/?Kewen-Liao) will be your Principal Supervisor and he is currently taking two future PhD students. Both international and Australian domestic applicants are welcome.
Qualifications
• Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Algorithms, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning/Deep Learning
• Research experience and evidence through computer science publications
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C++
• Experience in statistical analysis and data visualization
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in the design and analysis of algorithms and/or developing and applying machine learning or deep learning models is a huge plus
