See More Cross Smith Senior People Programs Manager 'Pausing for Equity' Holding Space for DEI Smith is an advocate for holding space — in companywide initiatives and the minutiae of daily planning. "We implemented a 'pause for equity' OKR to coach decision-makers on how to concretely think through whom they are including versus excluding," they said, noting that ERGs help hold space both in and beyond the company. "The programs and events we offer reflect our global teams by offering opportunities to share about and invest back into their local communities." For example, the company's INKlusive ERG celebrated U.S. and UK Pride month, donating to trans-serving organizations and more. I am a fierce equity advocate with a deep background in mission-driven educational and nonprofit orgs. My work with INKlusive helps braid DEI focus into my daily work streams and helps feed my soul. Senior Content Marketing Manager CHASE YOUR DREAMS Grow with support from peers From the moment Melissa Laffin joined Movable Ink, her peers and leaders encouraged her to pursue her passions. So when she decided to transition out of sales and fulfill her dream of becoming a marketing leader, she received the support and tools she needed to do so. Now, Laffin strives to help her direct reports chase their own ambitions. "My ultimate goal as a manager is to evoke the same inspiring feelings I felt when first coming aboard by ensuring everyone on my team feels supported, capable and set up for optimal success," she said. Every day I feel supported to the fullest extent to be myself, but I also feel challenged to reach an even higher potential, which is why I believe many 'Inkers' stay for the long haul. Senior Director of Solutions Development and Delivery HIT GOALS + HAVE FUN Stay engaged and balanced While Roger Rodriguez and his peers may have encountered a few challenges when they first started working remotely, the benefits of this type of environment have outweighed them all. "It empowers individuals to get their best work done while acknowledging the unpredictability of real life," he said. Rodriguez added that the company's events team succeeds in creating a fun culture through virtual gatherings, including cocktail-mixing classes. When he's not getting to know his coworkers, he can log off and enjoy the important things, such as early family dinners. I'm convinced we have the perfect environment to kickstart friendships, humanize the person behind the profile picture and, more importantly, move forward as a cohesive unit.
