Exciting Lead Backend Engineer Opportunity in Central London!
Employment Type: Permanent
Location: London, UK (2-3 times a week in the office)
Join an innovative tech company in the heart of London's vibrant landscape as a Lead Backend Engineer. Reporting directly to the Engineering and Product leadership, you'll be at the forefront of designing and implementing backend systems and APIs for our dynamic mobile and web applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship within the backend engineering team.
- Set and uphold coding standards while establishing best practices.
- Develop and maintain backend code driving mobile and web clients.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Design, and Data Science.
- Integrate APIs seamlessly into client apps through close collaboration with the frontend team.
- Participate actively in our agile/scrum environment, engaging in code reviews and automated testing.
- Shape system architecture, choose tools, and drive continuous improvement.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise:
- Proven experience in engineering leadership roles.
- Confidence in owning the end-to-end software development process.
- Strong expertise in Python backend development.
- Hands-on experience building modern web and mobile app backends using RESTful APIs.
- Knowledge of various data stores, including SQL databases, key-value stores, and graph databases.
- Experience integrating data science models into system architectures.
- API development for both web and mobile apps.
- Familiarity with AWS, Heroku and Django are a plus not required
