Position Description:
The Retail Data Analyst is responsible in updating and managing the weekly point of sales and order/shipment reports. In addition to working with large databases, this role will provide ad hoc analysis and create executive dashboard reports showing strategic account insights to assist in maximizing sales and profitability. We are looking for an individual who has advanced Excel skills. The ideal candidate will have experience in the CPG/Wholesale industry.
Key Job Responsibilities:
· Work closely with the Sales department under the Planning team’s supervision to assist in in-depth analysis of account dashboards, updating weekly/monthly/quarterly reports, reviewing and actioning order/shipment file logs.
· Monitor and track sales performance against targets and goals.
· Assist in the development of sales forecasts and budgets.
· Support the sales team by generating sales reports and analyzing customer data.
· Provide regular analysis and full detailed understanding of the product portfolio to justify trends and performance - Promotional performance, ROI, Lost Sales, Category Ranking, In-stock %, Fill rates, $PSPW vs UPSPW and comparative sales reports etc.
· Conduct an analysis of past promotions and present findings/strategic actions to sales team.
· Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to management.
· Support the Sales Department by collaborating with accounts on EDI orders, review order fulfillment and request extensions where applicable.
· Provide new item setup files to distribution centres.
· Will work closely with internal partners in Sales, Planning and Finance from a business management perspective.
· Assist in ad hoc analysis when requested.
Professional Knowledge and Skills:
· Degree from university/college in a business or system perspective preferred.
· In-depth knowledge of the CPG industry and North American Retail Industry is a definite asset.
· Experience working with retailers' sales report data is preferred. (ie. LDIA, Retail Link, SPS, GS1, WERCS, 1WorldSync, etc...)
· Must be well-organized to understand what the priorities are.
· Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
· Past experience working in retail buying office environments is an asset.
· Some knowledge of MAC computer environment is a plus.
· Must have knowledge of retail math i.e. sales, initial markup, markdowns, margins, profits.
· Advanced in MS Excel, vlookups, pivot tables, sumifs, databases, etc.
