Position: Frontend Engineer Reporting to: Lead Frontend Engineer Role Overview: As a Frontend Engineer, you will assist in the development of tools and interfaces designed to both analyze massive data sets as well as support our internal teams manage and deliver crucial location information. This role will require a deep understanding of complex relational databases, geolocation systems, performant UI design, and an appreciation for collaborative problem solving. You will be expected to work with other teams, both operations and backend, to develop internal tools that boost productivity and enable new and complex functionality. Responsibilities: • Contribute to the design and development of our internal tooling systems, with an emphasis on performance and usability. • Develop systems and interfaces that are incredibly performant while displaying and manipulating data sets on the order of millions. • Maintain code sanity by having a deep understanding of typescript to ensure safe and intelligently typed code. • Swap between front end frameworks and backend NodeJS environments, while also interfacing with local databases. • Stream data both downstream and upstream between our internal microservices to ensure data can be loaded and replicated. • Collaborate with both your immediate team, and the rest of the company to ensure the systems being designed are efficient and useful. • Triage problems and be able to identify and correct any number of issues or challenges that may arise. Work directly with those using your software. • Push yourself into new areas of learning and development; rise to new opportunities for growth and stay on the cutting edge. Qualities We Seek: • Comprehensive understanding of Javascript, with a focus on Typescript. • Expertise in Javascript’s asynchronous behavior, understanding its strengths as well as its pitfalls. • Expertise in React, specifically with a focus on newer Hook based components. • Experience with NodeJS and how it might integrate into a SQL library. • Experience with SQL systems, specifically SQLite as well as Postgres. • Familiarity with Electron, and some experience with IPC communications across render and main threads. • Familiarity with spatial or geolocation based libraries, services or visualizations. • A desire to address new, never before solved problems and do exploratory work in search for efficient solutions. • Confidence in your work, ownership of your decisions, and a willingness to collaborate with others and receive feedback in a cooperative environment.
